Privacy Policy
Milk Drunk helps parents and caregivers track an infant's feeding, sleep, diapering, and related activity. This policy explains what we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. Milk Drunk is available outside the EU, EEA, UK, and Switzerland. This policy is provided in English; if it is ever translated, the English version governs.
The short version
- We store your baby's profile and the activity you log in the cloud so it's backed up and stays in sync across your devices and with caregivers you invite.
- We treat that activity data as sensitive consumer health data and protect it accordingly.
- We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
- You can export your data or delete your account (which removes your data) at any time.
- We ask for your consent before storing your data in the cloud.
Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account or sign in (Sign in with Apple, Google, or email), we receive your name and email address and a unique account identifier (Firebase Authentication user ID). An account is required to use Milk Drunk, so your data can sync safely across your devices and caregivers.
Health and activity data you provide. Baby profile details (name, date of birth, photo, sex) and the events you log: feeding, sleep, diapering, pumping, medications, growth measurements, and notes. We treat this as consumer health data.
Device information. A device identifier (Apple's Identifier for Vendor) used to deliver push notifications, and basic diagnostics described below.
Diagnostics. Crash and performance data to keep the app reliable, collected via our diagnostics provider (Sentry). We configure this to exclude your personal content.
We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How we use your information
- Provide the core service: store, sync, and display your baby's profile and activity.
- Enable family sync: let caregivers you invite view and (per their role) edit your family's data.
- Send notifications you enable (e.g., feed/nap reminders, caregiver activity).
- Optional data import: when you import data from another app, we may use an AI service (Google Firebase AI Logic / Gemini) to interpret the file's structure. We send only what's needed to map the format (not your data in bulk) as described in-app at import time.
- Improve the app: study how Milk Drunk is used, in aggregate, so we can fix problems and decide what to build next. This looks at patterns of activity (which features get used, where people get stuck), and the results are only ever kept as statistics, never as anything tied to you or your baby.
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
How your information is stored and shared
Cloud storage. Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) in the United States, isolated per family by access rules. Cloud sync is always on while you use the app (we no longer offer an on-device-only mode); your consent (below) covers this.
Caregivers. Data you place in a family is visible to the caregivers you invite, according to the role you assign them (e.g., full access, log-only, or view-only).
Service providers (sub-processors). We share data only with providers that process it on our behalf: Google Firebase (authentication, database, cloud functions, push messaging, app attestation, AI import), Sentry (diagnostics), and Apple (Sign in with Apple, subscriptions). Each is bound to protect the data.
We do not sell your personal data, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use your health data for advertising.
Improve Rhythm Coach (optional)
Rhythm Coach's sleep predictions run on your device. Separately, you can choose to help improve the predictions for everyone by turning on "Help improve Rhythm Coach" in Settings → Rhythm Coach. This program is:
- Off by default. Nothing is shared unless you turn the toggle on.
- Revocable at any time. Turning the toggle off stops sharing and deletes any records waiting to be sent from your device.
When the toggle is on, the app shares small, de-identified prediction-accuracy records. Each record contains only these categories:
- The prediction engine and reference-table versions
- An age range (like 6 to 9 months), never a birth date
- How many days of sleep history the coach had, as a range
- The nap-schedule pattern (like two naps, or transitioning)
- A data-quality category
- What was predicted (next sleep, a later sleep, or bedtime) and how far ahead
- The predicted window's width, as a range
- How many minutes the prediction was off by
- Whether the sleep landed inside the predicted windows
- The prediction's confidence level
Baby names, notes, caregiver info, and exact birth dates are never included. Records carry no account identifier, no exact times, and no event history. Because records are de-identified, they cannot be traced back to you after upload; withdrawing consent deletes any records not yet sent. We retain raw records for at most 90 days, after which only aggregate statistics (for example, average prediction error by age range) remain. These records are used solely to improve Rhythm Coach's predictions. They are never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared with third parties beyond the service providers listed above.
Consent and how to withdraw it
Before your data is stored in the cloud, we ask you to consent in the app. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account (Settings → About & Legal → Delete Account). Deleting your account permanently removes your babies, events, and history from our systems. You may export your data first.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (e.g., California, Washington, and other U.S. states), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of your data, and to confirm we do not sell it. The app provides:
- Access / portability: Settings → Data → Download my data.
- Deletion: Settings → Data → Delete account.
- Export for your pediatrician: Settings → Data → Export (PDF/CSV).
To exercise other rights or ask questions, contact support@milkdrunk.app. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Children's data
Milk Drunk records information about an infant, entered by an adult account holder. The service is intended for use by adults (18+ or the age of majority where you live) and is not directed to children, who may not create accounts or use it directly.
Data retention
We retain your data while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we delete your associated data, subject to limited retention required by law or for security.
Security
We protect data in transit and at rest using our cloud providers' encryption, restrict access with per-family rules, and verify app authenticity with app attestation (App Check). No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, ask you to review and re-consent in the app.
